It's the last day of school for the semester and no one wants to work--everybody wants to go swimming!

Teachers, students, parents and siblings all traveled to the West home in Portland for some fun.

What a great year it has been and now it's time to get ready for summer school!

Sensory Exploration

A unique aspect of Hannah's Hope is the ability to individualize each student's program. Sensory issues can be dealt with and incorporated into the program. Many individuals with autism have heightened senses and are more sensitive to touch, sound, smell, taste and sight. Because of this, they either crave an activity that will stimulate a particular sense or they want to avoid a certain sense being stimulated.

Exposing children to using their senses appropriately can reduce the sensitivity or stimulation from a particular sense.
