Cooperative Play

Brandon "calls" Mom.

Each day our students have an opportunity to develop appropriate play skills. During this time, two students are paired together. First, we read a story in which both children interact cooperatively turning pages, pointing to items, answering questions, etc. Then, a specific play activity is presented. Students practice taking turns, sharing, and engaging in "pretend" play. Last, students have a little bit of time for independent play.

The Motor Room

Having fun in the motor room

The motor room is a favorite place for all of our students. In this room, we have equipment to help develop gross motor skills. Each day the children are taken through an obstacle course--a balance beam, tunnels, trampoline, ball pit, therapy balls, etc. This allows us to address several skills while having fun! After completing the obstacle course a few rounds, students are allowed to explore activities on their own.
