Pickin' Pumpkins is "Slim Pickens"

Hannah's Hope picks pumpkins!

Our students visited the Pumpkin Patch today where they heard stories, listened to music and got to pick pumpkins. Unfortunately, pumkins were slim this year, so they didn't have a whole lot to choose from. Still, it was fun for each of them to get to hand pick their own pumpkin.

Face Painting

Arturo gets a pumpkin painted on his face!

"Face Painting" can be quite a challenge for some children with autism who have sensory defensiveness. While most of the students were able to tolerate it, Ms. Renee had to get a little creative with others. A couple of them ended up with "pumpkins" on their hands instead. AND still others had rubbed it all off within minutes! I have to give each child credit for giving it a try.

Even the teachers gave it a try!

Upstairs Renovations are Completed!

Ms. Danielle teaches Santiago in the new learning
space upstairs.

Thanks to Les Cassidy, Hannah's Hope now has "learning space" upstairs! Mr. Cassidy provided the funding to pay for renovations. This has also allowed our program manager and teachers to have some much needed office space. We are now able to accept more students, as well. Thank you, Mr. Cassidy, from all of us at Hannah's Hope!

Let's Play Dress Up!

Zoe, the beautiful "winter princess".

One way to teach dressing skills is by allowing children to dress up in costumes. They are having fun and learning at the same time. Hannah's Hope is accepting donations of costumes and regular clothing items, especially those with buttons, snaps and zippers.

Self Help Skills

Quang learns to feed himself.

Motor skills in children with autism are often delayed. Through intensive instruction, students are encouraged to become independent in all self help skills such as dressing, feeding and personal hygeine.
